The forest, environmental and agri-food Unit Command is the section of the specialized Carabinieri, specialised in protection of the natural and landscape heritage, in preventing and combating environmental and agrifood crimes. The “Corpo forestale” is responsible for monitoring of State owned Parks, Natural Protected Areas and Nature Reserves, where it carries out research and preservation projects as well as environmental education activities.

The working group carries out analysis of ecological diversity with regard to vegetation and landscape, by deducting solutions for the management of environmental systems with different natural features. Researches are also developed with regard to ecology and population dynamics, vegetable and landscape communities by the use of multi-source data which are collected in geo-referenced databases and evaluated by statistic methods.
