ACTION C1: IMPLEMENTATION OF INTERVENTIONS FOR THE CONSERVATION AND CONSOLIDATION OF EUROPEAN INTEREST AMPHIBIANS AND BUTTERFLIES POPULATIONS OF WETLANDS

Status : Started.

The action provides for the implementation of several interventions aimed at conserving and consolidating the populations of amphibians and butterflies of community interest in moist environment. Such interventions are designed to restore the moist environments within the SIC covered by the project according to an even and uniform distribution in order to ensure easy connection for the 5 species representing the target of the project: Bombina variegata, Salamandrina terdigitata, Triturus carnifex, Euplagia quadripunctaria* and Eriogaster catax. About 150 intervention areas are totally proposed.

The suggested interventions consist of implementation of new moist areas, restoration of typical vegetation of habitat 6430, restoration or establishment of fountains and watering holes, creation of subways and ponds; in some cases some additional interventions shall also be carried out, such as tree and shrub cutting, installation of fences, steps or extraction and possible drainage systems.
